Desert Beauty

A little rain and clouds for the thirsty desert, a great day for a photo shoot. Enjoy a few shots of this desert rose, so sweet and pretty, just waiting for this day to come.

“Clouds came floating into my life, no longer to carry rain or usher storm, but to add color to my sunset sky.”

Two Weeks of Sweetness

Thursday, August 4th, 2011

This little sweet guy is a precious blessing.  Wishing your family many mornings of sunshine on the cradle!

“If one feels the love for something grand, something infinite, something that makes one feel aware of God, one need not go no far to find it. I think that I see something deeper, more infinite, more eternal than the ocean in the eyes of a little baby when it wakes in the morning and coos or laughs because it sees the sun shine on its cradle.”  Vincent van Gogh

UNITY

Friday, July 8th, 2011

I love this idea that the family wanted to do, inspired by a Taylor Swift photograph.  Now I need to do this with my family, but our name is way too long!

Holiday time is the best time for the family photo!  Three little girls at a park is super fun and a challenge.  Thanks a bunch!

Two Fairies

Saturday, February 20th, 2010

Are you moved by words? I love them when used so lovely.

Yeats creates this image and I went back to these photographs of the two fairy princesses playing in the backyard.  This is how intense children play and I wish for that passion in my everyday life, like a flame upon the mountain!  So, try to spread your wings a little more each day, who knows where you will go!
“Faeries, come take me out of this dull world,
For I would ride with you upon the wind,
Run on the top of the dishevelled tide,
And dance upon the mountains like a flame.”

~William Butler Yeats, “The Land of Heart’s Desire,” 1894

What Did You Do Today?

Wednesday, January 6th, 2010

Usually we answer with our highlights or NOTHING.  Recently, I have crossed into another whole dimension of mommyhood that I think is here way too soon.  I have now seen the dreaded eye rolls and  the complete thought out answer of “nothing” when asked what did you do in school today?  Yes, I know all about specific questioning like what was your favorite thing today etc.  But, as I said this is a whole new attitude in my little life!  So, as I am evaluating myself and how I need to restructure our home, schedule and even my attitude, I found that I answered a friend with “nothing” to what we did this weekend. Oops! I am one important role model for my little treasures and sometimes it is easy to forget.

So, what did we do today?  I will skip the endless supply of laundry, never-ending dish pile and changing of the light bulbs.

First:

Major excavation in backyard looking for worms. Outcome, beautiful home with flower beds made in jar,

but no worm friends to be found.

Next:

Boogie boarding in the desert.  After riding bikes and scooters come the more creative activities

like pulling a boogie board on the skate board. Whee!

Then, a little hunting for mesquite pods to make “bean soup” which is the equivalent of mudpie when I grew up.  Lauren is hard for me to get on camera because she just likes to do the opposite

of what I want!  So, here she is having a great day making soup.

Last, we go inside to make sure our new Christmas present, “Rainbow the Fish,” is well and not noticed by Oscar the Cat.  A little play time with Oscar and then on to the normal house

stuff like getting clean ond off to make dinner.  So, THAT IS WHAT WE DID TODAY.  Hope your day was filled with wonder and joy!
